Christmas Season Preview

I wasn’t planning on doing a Christmas project yet and having one more week of fall and Halloween projects but this Christmas one snuck in to just give you a preview.

A couple of things about this one before I share the separate card and envelope pictures  This card is actually a little different. It’s actually 4 X 5.5 but I actually really like the way it looks. Also a little Scan N Cut note. I used the pre-loaded holly image to make the little holly berries… I’m not really a fan… I like the Cricut better for these preloaded image type things. There’s no “Shadow” feature for the scan n cut so I couldn’t just match up the pieces… I had to figure it out myself and I just am not a fan of how it came out.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #183

Now that things have slowed down at work lets try getting back into this blogging thing.

It’s Monday and you know what that means! Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge time!!!

I actually struggled with this sketch a bit… So I hope you’ll join us this week so I can see what you come up with!

And now what I came up with.

img_0433

Really cute and simple. I have another try at this card scheduled for later this week and I actually think that one came out a little better although my mom likes this one.

And the back.

IMG_0434.JPG

I even made a matching envelope!

You’ll ignore the ink smudge right…. Just pretend it isn’t there….

img_0435

I don’t even now where that smudge came from…  I have one of those sand erasers…. But it’s a little MIA at the moment…

And the back flap of the envelope.

So Very Thankful

I feel like I’m finally winding down from the end of summer crazies. I’ve had my last “staycation” My summer theatre projects are done, I’m settled into my new job, I’ve moved blogs. It’s been a long summer and I’ve packed a lot into it! I’m not going to promise updates every day becuase I never seam to follow through. So for now I’m only going to say more regular posts. I’ve also gotten a lot pickier about what cards I share with you. I only share the cards I at least like and are worthy of sharing but I hope that helps to improve the cards you see!

So I made this thank you card and thought I’d share it to say thank you to all my lovely blog followers.

Foiled Happy Birthday

Hi everyone!  I tried something really cool with this card and am so excited to share it with you! The picture didn’t come out great but the picture still shows the details.

IMG_0334.JPG

Doesn’t that look so cool! I swear the middle is not that dark I have a feeling that my camera struggled with the difference of the white words and the dark background.

Anyway how did I do this. First I blended Black Soot Disstress Ink all over the foiled piece (It used to be white) then ran it through my minc with the red foil and embossed the happy birthday with some white embossing powder. It’s a little sumdgy because I forgot to run my powder tool over the pannel first… I always forget that part! But here’s something intresting! In some parts of the pannel the foil actually stuck to the black ink too! I wonder if I should have let it dry a little more before I ran it through my minc.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 171

Hi Everyone! Ever have a card that you just can’t get right? That’s what happened with this card and why my Sketch challenge is going up today and didn’t make it up on Monday. It took me 6 tries to get this right and I probably could have done on more redo!

IMG_0333.JPG

I absolutely love this sketch and can’t believe how long it took me to get it right! I thought it might be fun to share with you all the tries I went through to get this card done.

  1. I didn’t like the shape I cut on my  Scan N cut and had picked a size that was too small and decided I wanted to just go with an oval like in the sketch.
  2. I stuck the white oval to the brown oval before I stamped and then forgot to mask off my little piggy before stamping her mud puddle…
  3. I tried using masking fluid on my piggy and didn’t wait for it to dry long enough and ripped my paper when I tried to take the masking fluid off.
  4. I messed up on the stamping… (Yes even with your misti if you forget to clean your stamps off you mess up from time to time…)
  5. I messed up on the coloring… But thought I would deal with it and then while I was thinking about it at work I decided I really wasn’t OK with it and needed to re-do it when I got home
  6. I finally got it good enough.

That was the short list of issues. I also was getting frustrated with the number of ovals I needed to cut and finally got smart and cut out more than 1 at a time (I still have 1 left over), I ripped the rectangle after cutting it at one point and I still don’t like the way the background looks.

Oh well, It’s good enough.

Digistamps4Joy Blog Hop

Hi everyone, Today we are starting a Blog Hop from July 7 till July 14 at Digistamps4Joy. It would be great fun if you join in and have a look at all the great cards the Design Team has made. We all made easel cards embellished with either glitter or sequins. One follower of the main Digistamps4Joy challenge blog will win a digistamp, so make sure you are a follower there. If you visit each of the links in the list of blog participants and leave a comment on each blog, you may be the lucky person to win a Digistamps4Joy digistamp from each one! By leaving a comment on each of the participating blogs, you can earn an extra digi on this main blog. And the digi you can win is what the DT made on her card. So anyone who leaves a comment on the blogs and follows the challenge blog from Digistamps4Joy can win a digi from any of the Design Team blogs. So, you can earn a total of 5 digis! Isn’t that a cool prize?

That’s right you can earn 5 digis! There are 4 different digis being given away on the DT Blogs and 1 digi you can win on the main blog! So you should definitely play along!

You should have come here from Margaret’s Blog and after you leave your comment here you should head to Tertia’s Blog.

As soon as I heard the sequin twist to this blog hop I knew I wanted to use this stamp! I mean sequins and musicians go together! I was a little sppoked by the easel card and I did mess up but it still looks cute!

Watercolor Wedding

July is National Watercolor Month! So here’s a fun watercolor wedding card! I cut the wedding cake from one of the pre-loaded images on the Scan-N-Cut! I used some of the inking techniques I learned from my foiling class! I also learned I have no wedding greeting stamps… Do you have any suggestions?
