A Hello and A Goodbye

Hi Everyone!

I just realized the other day my post announcing my summer break never published! (This may or may not be because I left it as a draft and never scheduled it… oops….) ANYWAY! I’m back from that break…¬† Kinda…

I’m not officially coming back till September. I still need some time to get some cards done and blog posts are written and pictures edited and all that stuff but behind the scenes, I’m back and working on stuff.

I do have a card to show you today but wanted to talk a little about what I’ve been up to the last few months as it ties into the card for today. If you want to skip to the card part just scroll down a bit.

For those of you who have followed along from the start you know, I always take this summer break to work on a show with a community theatre near me. This year’s show was HUGE!!! By far one of the biggest most challenging shows I’ve worked on.

A big cast a ton of props and costumes and a bunch of moving set pieces. There were definitely days where it felt like we never would get it together. The show closes this afternoon and I can honestly say this is one of the best shows I’ve worked on in the 9 years I’ve been working there.

The A-Team Crew

This cast has been amazing and helpful to me and the other crew members!

Full Cast and Crew Photo and I can think of at least 4 people who worked on this show and aren’t in this picture

I haven’t heard one of them complain about having to help with scene changes and I haven’t been told thank you that many times in years!

When the stage manager takes your phone ūüėä

I don’t know how they managed to find this many amazing people and get them in one room together.

I really wanted to make all these amazing people thank you cards but I just didn’t have the time to get 30 thank you cards done so this blog post goes out to this amazing cast and crew!

Thank you for your hard work and for making this one of the best summer musicals!!

Now here’s your card!

Foil is so hard to photograph but I think I was able to get some of the shine in this picture!

I haven’t used the Therm-o-web transfer gel all that much but broke it out for this card.

The worst part is the waiting for it to dry. I usually let mine sit overnight although I’m sure you could probably use it after a few hours if you want. Other than that it’s super easy to use just spread it through a stencil and let it dry once it’s dry run it through your MINC/Laminator like you would any foil project! It really helps expand the possibilities of your foils!

You can find a full supply list down below!

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet! Have a Crafty Day!

~Sami

Ice Cream Fun with Hedgehog Hollow!

Hello everyone!

It’s that time again and I have completed another Hedgehog Hollow Monthly box!

This month the box had a super fun ice cream theme and the featured companies were Waffle Flower and Pretty Pink Posh!

Of course Pretty Pink Posh means an amazing sequin mix! The one in the box was exclusive but I love it and found a similar one on the Pretty Pink Posh website I might just need to order it!

I got a little more creative with my cards this month. Last month I followed Alexandra’s tutorials almost to the letter with very few variations this time I let the creativity flow a little more and mixed things up a little.

I hope you enjoy today’s video!

Supply List:

Hedgehog Hollow May Waffle Flower and Pretty Pink Posh Box

Testing Out Fade-Out Ink

Hi everyone!

I love coloring stamped images. Many of us do. But I’ve never been huge on no-line coloring.

I just never seem to be able to get it to look that way I want.

Enter Ink on 3’s Fade Out ink

I thought I’d give this a go and see how I did.

IMG_0847

The Results are… Inconclusive… I do really like it. But might have picked too detailed of a stamp for my first go…  There’s a lot of little details in this stamp that get lost since I was trying to color this fairly simply. Without a lot of detail. I need to give it a go with my markers since I’m a little more confident with those than with my pencils. As a side note, on this particular image at least my Scan n Cut did not like it. I’m not sure if it’s because the ink is so light or just the image itself. It’s been awhile since I used this one and if I’m remembering correctly I think my Scan n Cut struggled the last time too.

Happy Mother’s Day

Yes I know I’m a day late. But I couldn’t share my mother’s day card before I gave it to her!

My mom’s favorite color is purple! So, of course, this card is all kinds of purple… I’m starting to think I gave her a kind of similar card this year.

There’s another purpose to this post though. Typically I post about the Digistamps4joy challenges on the 1st of the month but I was a little busy and missed it this time but the challenge is still going on and you have lots of time yet to enter before the month of May is over. And for any of you like me who needed to wait until Mother’s day was over to post your card!

This card was so quick and easy to put together!

IMG_0863

The Flower is colored with Prismacolor¬†pencils. I don’t have the exact colors written down but I believe it was the 3 lightest purples. Then I cut the flowers out with my Scan N Cut.¬†

IMG_0862.JPG

Speaking of my Scan N Cut. I didn’t have any die cuts that said any version of mom or mother. Sooo it was time to load up Canvas Workspace and create something. I used a font I had downloaded on my computer put it together and just like that “Mom” Die cut!

IMG_0864.JPG

Now I just cut out the die cut on white card stock. So to make it fit the purple theme and make it stand out a little. I used my spectrum sparkle pens to color it in and make it purple and sparkly! I used the color Boudoir.

A few pearls and the card was perfect!

I hope to see all your fabulous entries in the Digistamps4Joy Challenge!

The Card that Went Wrong: Ink Blended Background Featuring Lettered and Lovely!

Ever have one of those days where your card just doesn’t¬†work for you?

I do… all the time… and this video is the proof… Nothing was going right for me in making this video… The sample card I made before the video came out wonderfully! And I was so excited to share the second version with you in this video! Then everything went wrong the card didn’t turn out the way I hoped, my 4-legged fuffy production assistant decided to be more of a production distraction, and finally when I sat down to edit the new video editor I was testing decided it wanted to keep crashing and not let me finish¬†my video and my microphone decided to go on strike and not record….

Luckily I have another video editor installed and that one worked just fine and me and the microphone worked things out and I was able to get this video out to you!

Both of these cards have also made it to their recipients and guess what?  They loved them!

So the¬†REAL lesson of this weeks video? Sometimes mistakes and bad crafty days happen but it’s all OK. ūüôā

Meow You Doin

Hi everyone!!

I’m continuing¬†my quest to use stamp sets that I either haven’t used at all yet or haven’t seen some love in a long time.

I bought this stamp set at Scrapbook Expo LAST YEAR!! Because one of my Best Friends and Scrapbook Expo Buddy had just gotten a cat and I told her that was my excuse for buying cat stamp sets now!

But like so many things I put it away and never used it. So I pulled it out and made this cute card with it!

I really went out of my comfort zone and coloring this cat. I’m usually¬†a solid color animal colorer… but I pushed myself and I’m really happy with how it came out!

Under the Sea Digistamps4Joy Release

It’s that time again for a new release at Digistamps4Joy!

I hope this might help inspire some of you who may be a little leery of using Digital Stamps. In this card, I combined both traditional stamping and Digi Stamping. I know some of the people I’ve talked¬†to who use traditional stamps get stuck in the idea that you need to use them on completely digital projects. But as long as you have a printer and some kind of program that can resize images (Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Gimp, Paint, etc) you can use a digital stamp like any other stamp you might have.

I’m hoping to possibly get a few more Digital Stamp how-to blogs/videos in before the end of the year. But until¬†that happens feel¬†free to hit that contact me button or leave a comment and I’ll do what I can to help you and make sure I cover that topic in one of the blogs or videos.

I hope you’ll stop by the Digistamps4Joy Blog to see what the other fantastic Design Team members have created and hopefully you’ll also check out the Digistamps4Joy Store and give these awesome digi¬†stamps a try.

Happy Belated Birthday with Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone! I don‚Äôt know about you but I feel like I am the worst at sending birthday cards… I had bought this stamp set a few months ago because it reminded me of an old college friend who loved sloths! I hadn‚Äôt gotten around to using it yet and in an effort to use more of my stamp sets I pulled it out to make a happy belated birthday card. Which let’s be real I will probably also never send. ‚ėļÔłŹ

I’ve had my eye on the Lawn Fawn Stiched Hills Pop Up Dies as long as they have been released I finally ordered them a few weeks ago after finding some inspiration in my Hedgehog Hollow Box! I also had a birthday coming up and needed a card so this seemed perfect!

Let it me say photographing pop up cards is kind of hard…
